How are your Care Professionals selected?
Medi CareGivers looks for people that have a passion to help seniors live independently. Then each of our care professionals must successfully complete a thorough personal and professional reference, criminal background check and interviewing process. Each care professional is bonded and insured through Medi CareGivers, LLC.

Is Medi CareGivers and its care professionals licensed and insured?
Medi CareGivers is licensed by the Georgia Department of Community Health, Office of Regulatory Services, to provide nursing, personal care and companionship services. Our employees are bonded and insured. We carry general liability and professional liability as well as Worker’s Compensation insurance.

How do you train your Care Professionals?
Medi CareGivers care professionals participate in an exclusive senior care training program, which covers the most practical topics and situations encountered in providing home care to seniors.

We have determined that care is needed. What happens now?
A Nurse Manager goes to the Patient’s home to meet with the Patient and family members. The nurse performs an assessment, discusses your individual needs and completes a Care Plan for service. A copy of this plan is left in the Patient’s folder in their home. Then, the Nurse Manager coordinates the appropriate schedule for service.

Do you provide senior care to those in nursing homes or assisted living facilities?
Medi CareGivers provides care to residents in assisted living facilities and nursing homes who may require additional attention and/or personalized long term care. We also provide care in private homes, hospitals, apartments, retirement communities and personal care facilities.

Are the care services you provide documented?
As required by the State of Georgia, Medi CareGivers documents all visits and rendered services. The Patient or responsible party signs the service report. These forms are submitted to Medi CareGivers for billing and payroll purposes.

Does your service include keeping in touch with me? I live out of state with no local relatives.
Absolutely. We are available by phone 24 hours a day as well as by email, info@medicaregivers.com . We have Patients whose family members live in all parts of the world. As a result, we take pride in knowing that you may access us whenever and wherever. We’ve made it possible to have immediate access to our office and to those who care for your loved one.

Is Medi CareGivers a maid service?
No, but our care professionals can provide light housekeeping, laundry and ironing.

How are Patient complaints handled?
All Patients are provided a copy of their Rights and Responsibilities as a Patient. The Patient has a right to complain or express dissatisfaction about our service. This may be done by calling the Director of Administration at 770-483-6393 or 1-866-433-MyCare. The investigation of the complaint will be initiated and resolved upon receipt of the complaint. Medi CareGivers will resolve all problems and keep the Patient and the Patient’s family informed of the resolution. If the matter is not resolved, or you cannot solve your problems with Medi CareGivers, the Office of Regulatory Services may be contacted at 404-657-5728 or
1-800-878-6442 (outside the Atlanta calling area).

Are you available after hours for care or emergencies?
Medi CareGivers is available 24 hours, 7 days a week with a licensed nurse on-call at all times.

How is Patient care determined?
Medi CareGivers works together with the Patient, the Patient’s responsible party and the Patient's Physician, as appropriate to develop a written Care Plan to be followed by the Medi CareGivers care professional.  As well, routine supervisory visits are made by our Nurse Supervisors to assess the Patient’s needs. At which time, changes are made to the Patient’s care plan as needed.

What are Fees for Services?
All Fees and billing procedures are disclosed in the Medi CareGivers written Service Agreement for care. This form must be signed by the Patient or Responsible Party. Fees may be set by the hour or day (Live-In 24-Hour Service) and are based on the level of care provided to the Patient.

What are your Billing & Payroll Policies & Procedures?
Medi CareGivers bills and pays weekly. If Medi CareGivers accepts an assignment of insurance policy benefits, Medi CareGivers will bill the Patient's insurance, or other
payor such as in the case of Workers Compensation Insurance. Medi CareGivers care professionals are also paid weekly.

What are your rates and minimum hours of service?
Specific rate information may be obtained by contacting a Medi CareGivers Service Plan Manager.

Does Medi CareGivers accept Medicare or Medicaid?
Medi CareGivers does not accept Medicare. Medicare services are provided by Home Health Agencies (HHAs) in limited intermittent programs. As a Private Home Care Provider (PHCP), we accept Medicaid. Medicaid is a State program that provides continuing care with part-time, full-time and Live-In services according to the Patient’s needs.

How is my confidentiality and privacy handled?
Medi CareGivers is HIPAA {Federal Privacy Regulations} compliant. HIPAA governs federal privacy regulations.

Does Medi CareGivers disclose names of other Patients that it has served?
Under HIPAA, {Federal Privacy Regulations} this is not allowed, unless we obtain "specific written permission" from the Patient to do so. In most cases, Patients wish to maintain their privacy. Therefore if anyone does this they are NOT HIPAA Compliant, and are breaking the law, unless they have the Patient’s permission.

How often does the Nurse Manager evaluate the Patient?
The Nurse Manager sees each new Patient prior to beginning a Care Plan. Following this assessment, the Patient is seen according to the needs of the Patient and the amount of service being provided. The Nurse Manager will assure that care is sufficient, proper and safe. While the State of Georgia requires a home supervisory visit by the RN every 92 days, in some cases, the Nurse Manager may see Patients as often as once a week.

What does Personal Care do in the event of an emergency?
There are four steps our care professionals take in a crisis: 1) Call 911; 2) Call the doctor; 3) Call the family; 4) Call the office. Our care professionals are instructed to use their best judgment in whom to call first. Should the care professional call the office prior to calling you, the office would be the source to call you.

Do I sign a contract?
The State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Office of Regulatory Services, requires a written service agreement. This is provided primarily to inform and protect the Patient. The needs of the Patient as well as the requests of the family are documented. The amount of time the care is to be provided, the payment method and the hourly cost are recorded.

Can you administer shots and medications?
Our Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are licensed to set up a medication schedule that our care professionals can follow. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Personal Care Aides (PCAs) and CareGivers cannot give shots or set up medication. Our RNs and LPNs are also available to administer shots as needed by the Patient.

Do your services include taking Patients to a medical appointments and errands?
Due to insurance regulations, our care professionals are not allowed to drive a Patient in the care professional’s car. When a Patient has given permission for the care professional to drive the Patient’s car, the care professional can drive the Patient’s car to appointments. Should the Patient not have a car, the care professional and the Patient will go in a taxi. This form of travel is recommended and preferred by Medi CareGivers. Taxi services provide many advantages and allow our care professionals the opportunity to devote their full attention to the Patient while in transit.

Will you perform a home safety check to ensure there are no obstacles that might injure the Patient?
A home check to ensure safety is included in the care plan. Medi CareGivers will make suggestions to help eliminate possible dangers and hazards in your home.

Do you provide home health care medical products?
Medi CareGivers recommends that families work with the medical supply company closest to their home. Should this not be available, there are a number of medical supply stores and pharmacies that we recommend. Rental or purchase is based on individual preference and may be reimbursable through Medicare, Medicaid or your private insurance company.
